چکیده

Orthophotos provide valuable spatial and spectral information for various GIS and mapping applications. The absence of relief displacement and the uniform scale in orthophotos enable interested users to measure distances, compute areas, derive geographic locations, and quantify changes. Differential rectification has traditionally been used for orthophoto generation. However, differential rectification produces serious problems (in the form of ghost images) when dealing with large scale imagery over urban areas. To avoid these artifacts, true orthophoto generation techniques have been devised to remove ghost images through visibility analysis and occlusion detection. So far, the z-buffer method has been one of the most popular methods for true orthophoto generation. However, it has strict requirements regarding the cell size of the Digital Surface Model (DSM), as the cell size is related to the Ground Sampling Distance (GSD) of the imaging sensor. This paper introduces alternative methodologies for true orthophoto generation that circumvent the drawbacks of the z-buffer technique. Moreover, the proposed techniques are suited for manipulating scenes acquired by both high resolution imaging satellites and aerial imaging system. Specifically, the proposed methodologies focus on object to image projection and occlusion detection. Using real data, the experimental results section describes a comprehensive analysis of the performance of the proposed methodologies when compared to existing techniques. The analysis focuses on the quality of detected occlusions and the computational efficiency. * Corresponding author.

Object-Oriented Method for Automatic Extraction of Road from High Resolution Satellite Images

As the information carried in a high spatial resolution image is not represented by single pixels but by meaningful image objects, which include the association of multiple pixels and their mutual relations, the object based method has become one of the most commonly used strategies for the processing of high resolution imagery. This processing comprises two fundamental and critical steps towar...

Comparative Assessment of Very High Resolution Satellite and Aerial Orthoimagery

This paper aims to assess the accuracy and radiometric quality of orthorectified high resolution satellite imagery from Pleiades-1B satellites through a comparative evaluation of their quantitative and qualitative properties. A Pleiades-B1 stereopair of high resolution images taken in 2013, two adjacent GeoEye-1 stereopairs from 2011 and aerial orthomosaic (LSO) provided by NCMA S.A (Hellenic C...

مقایسه کارایی عکس های هوایی و باندهای پانکروماتیک +ETM و IRS-P6 در تعیین مرفولوژی تپه های ماسه ای

In this survey, the performance of aerial photographs and satellite imagery in determining sand dunes morphology was studied in the Erg of Gavkhouni international wetland located in the southeast part of Isfahan province. Aerial photographs (scale:1:20000) and the panchromatic bands of ETM+ and IRS-P6 sensor were acquired and geometrically corrected using topographic map of the region (scale:1:...

Automatic Georeferencing of Aerial Images Using High- Resolution Stereo Satellite Images

For airborne surveys, direct georeferencing has become the primary source for EOPs (Exterior Orientation Parameters) determination since integrated GPS/INS (Global Positioning System/Inertial Navigation System) systems were introduced. However, there is still need for alternative indirect georeferencing since there are remote, inaccessible areas that lack a geodetic infrastructure and thus GPS/...
